    1. Prepare the Subfloor:

    • Ensure Level Surface: Verify that the subfloor is level and free of any defects or unevenness.
    • Moisture Testing: Use a moisture meter to check the subfloor’s moisture content. It should be below the manufacturer’s recommended level.
    • Underlayment: Install an appropriate underlayment to provide cushioning, insulation, and a moisture barrier.

    2. Acclimate the Wood:

    • Allow Time: Before installation, allow the wood flooring to acclimate to the room’s temperature and humidity for at least 48 hours.

    3. Measure and Layout:

    • Accurate Measurements: Measure the room carefully to determine the amount of flooring needed.
    • Plan the Layout: Decide on the direction of the planks (parallel or perpendicular to the longest wall) and start laying from the most visible corner.

    4. Install the First Row:

    • Remove Tongue and Groove: Remove the tongue from the first plank and place it against the wall.
    • Secure with Nails or Glue: Secure the plank to the subfloor using nails or glue, depending on the installation method.

    5. Install Subsequent Rows:

    • Stagger Joints: Stagger the joints between planks to prevent unevenness and create a more visually appealing floor.
    • Tap into Place: Use a tapping block to secure the planks together.

    6. Trim the Last Row:

    • Measure and Cut: Measure the last row and cut the planks to fit the space.
    • Install and Secure: Install the last row and secure it with nails or glue.

    7. Install Moldings:

    • Baseboards: Install baseboards to cover the edges of the flooring and create a finished look.
    • Trim: Install trim around doors and windows.

    8. Sand and Finish:

    • Sanding: If using unfinished wood, sand the entire floor to prepare it for finishing.
    • Finishing: Apply the desired finish, such as polyurethane or wax, to protect the wood and enhance its appearance.

    9. Clean Up:

    • Remove Debris: Clean up any debris or sawdust from the installation process.

    10. Enjoy Your New Floor:

    • Admire Your Work: Sit back and admire your beautifully installed hardwood floor.

Remember: If you’re unsure about any step or encounter difficulties, it’s always recommended to consult a professional installer. They can provide expert guidance and ensure a successful installation.
